As part of the centenary celebrations for Dalcroze UK, Sally Beamish has been commissioned to write a 10-minute piece for three instruments (high/medium/low) for plastique animée (PA). PA is a realisation of music in movement, aiming to make the music visible where dancers are trained to create a counterpoint with any music they may use, rather than move exactly with it.
Music and movement share many characteristics. This creative workshop gives dancers and musicians the opportunity to work together and learn from one another. All participants should come in clothes they can move in, and musicians are invited to bring instruments.
The workshops will be led by two performers involved in the première of Ring Time, with Monica Wilkinson, Dalcroze consultant, musician and teacher. Cost: £20 (£15)
