Digital Noisy Nights 3rd Edition – Call For Composers!

Digital Noisy Nights provide an outlet to hear emerging new musical ideas and voices in our new social distanced reality. Are you a composer looking for a challenge?

As lockdown restrictions ease, we are happy to announce a third round of new music concerts by duos with these outstanding Red Note musicians that you can enjoy from your own home.

  • Ruth Morley (and optional pre-recorded track) – Flute,
  • Sasha Savaloni – Amplified Classical Guitar with Mark O’Keeffe – Trumpet,
  • Jackie Shave – Violin with Robert Irvine – Cello.

Call for Composers

If you are a young (still at high school full time), or an emerging, student, amateur composer (18+) interested in writing a 5-min long piece for a duo, please send your name, school (if relevant), and contact email to admin[at]rednoteensemble.com by Friday 10 July (12:00PM – BST).

That same day, we will get back in touch to inform you about the instruments you have been assigned to write for from the options above – please note this will be a random allocation. You will also receive the link to a brief instrument demo filmed by each player outlining capabilities, techniques, notation, etc.

Then the challenge is on! You all have 2 weeks to write your piece for that specific duo. Please submit in pdf format by 5pm (BST) on Friday 24th July to admin[at]rednoteensemble.com. Please consider that concerts are rehearsed and performed in a short timeframe.

The 20 compositions selected by the players will be performed on our YouTube channel on 4 separate concerts: 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th August.

Challenge accepted?

Please help us spread the word by sharing this call with your friends and contacts.

We are looking forward to keeping music alive and new music lovers connected online.
