Sound Festival 2020 – Th’first munth is th’wurst iv awl

Sound's October mini-festival will be delivered entirely online. Tune in to enjoy the world premiere of Ben Lunn's new work.
Isolation has a dramatic impact on individuals, but is this the end? Does their spark stop when an individual is taken away from their community?

Drawing upon prison letters from radical voices across the globe, Th’first munth is th’wurst iv awl (the first month is the worst of all) by Ben Lunn is a work for narrator and ensemble drawing individual struggle to the present day, and showing isolation does not weaken a person’s fervour or spirit, but we can continue to strive and fight and inspire those miles away from us.

Ben Lunn is an award winning composer who tries to draw upon his own political, spiritual, personal, and ideological worldview within his works which have been described as ‘evocative’ ‘obsessive’ and ‘otherworldly’.This work is narrated by playwright, producer and performer Tayo Aluko and performed by musicians from Red Note Ensemble.
