Parlour Sounds by Patricia Alessandrini

Parlour Sounds is a multimedia project by Patricia Alessandrini, part of Sound and Music Embedded.

Parlour Sounds is a multimedia project involving kitchen devices, and housekeeping aids in a subversive, experimental electronic aesthetic. Coming out of Patricia Alessandrini’s Sound and Music Embedded residency with Red Note Ensemble, in partnership with the Conservatoire de Paris, it will also feature work by composers associated with the Conservatoire.

Incorporating live electronics, video and theatrical elements, Parlour Sounds will involve vocal elements and text performed by soprano and the musicians, in relation to their instruments (singing into the flute, transducing sound from the voice into instruments, etc). The project also uses interactive technology to transform ordinary household objects into electronic instruments.

Parlour Sounds is a female/feminist view of technology: set in a British home in the late 60’s, and sees the soprano interact with the technology she finds at home as well as audio technology designed for the home in a subversive, ‘circuit bending’ aesthetic.

The ticket price also includes food/dinner. Please arrive at 7pm. In partnership with sound, NEAT, Buchanan Food & the Barn
