An Easterhouse Children’s Manifesto at the Belfast Children’s Festival

Our Easterhouse Children's Manifesto is at the Belfast Children's Festival from 8-16 March 2024!

Inspired by the 1931 publication La Anarquia Explicada a Los Niños, an instructional manual for children published during the Spanish Civil War that explained the ideas and practises of anarchy, Composer Brian Irvine and Director John McIlduff (Dumbworld), in collaboration with the children of Oakwood Primary School in Easterhouse and Red Note, have created a collection of seven musical animated video posters that explore key elements of “anarchical” thinking such as autonomy, kindness and human connectivity from a child’s perspective.

The work was developed in a year long process of co-creation involving pupils, teachers, artists and musicians.

The animated posters will be displayed at The Atrium, BC Building, Level 3, Ulster University in Belfast from Friday 8th to Saturday 16th March

The exhibition is free and not ticketed.
