The Songbook Project

The Songbook Project

Red Note loves to take brand new music to fresh and fearless ears, as well as digging in to some serious music-making with younger musicians. One of our recent adventures saw us collaborate with the fantastic pupils and staff of Oakwood Primary School. Genius ‘up for anything’ composer Brian Irvine worked with every class in the school from P1 – P7, supporting each one to build their very own song – lyrics, music and all. Arranging accompaniments for a trio of Red Note musicians, the whole culminated in a buzzing, joyous whole school-community performance of The Oakwood Songbook, including new classics such as I’m So Hungry (I Could Eat a Tank of Ten Small Jellyfish) and Fifty Thousand Tiny Dogs Called Beckett.
