We’ve had a little makeover.
It’s always a big thing to be able to go out in the world with a new look. For us, it’s especially big because we haven’t made a change like this for over 10 years, so please forgive us if we do a bit of a twirl.
What’s been wonderful about working towards this has been taking the time to delve deep into what Red Note is, what it does and what it stands for, and translating this into how we want to present ourselves to the wider world.
At the heart of Red Note is a simple idea: making space for new music. We create the conditions for new ideas to emerge, for artists to experiment and collaborate, and for music to happen that might not otherwise find a place. Our name captures something of this spirit, too. A red note is an impossible note, one that lies beyond the normal reach of an instrument. It’s something to strive for, to imagine and to keep searching for. That sense of curiosity and possibility runs through everything we do.
What we’ve found during this period of self-reflection is that what we fundamentally stand for has stood the test of time. Our new visual identity builds on the colours, forms and spirit of our original branding, while bringing fresh clarity to who we are and what we do.
As an organisation, we’ve learned and done a lot since we started out in 2008/09. Contemporary music is always evolving, and so are we. Our work has grown, our ambitions have developed, and we continue to explore new ways of making music, working with artists and connecting with people. The new design reflects this evolution, with greater clarity, accessibility, inclusivity and environmental responsibility.
We’re absolutely thrilled with the result, and we very much hope you like it too.
We’re indebted to Flore, who has managed the entire process, and particularly to David, who led and guided us through all of this with great deftness and skill, and designed the final results alongside Shaun at Bauholz. In their honour, we might stay twirling for a bit!
Do let us know what you think!
