SUMMARY:Go Compose! 2026
DESCRIPTION:Go Compose! gives participants the opportunity to work with professional composers Fergus Hall and Gillian Walker\, alongside three musicians from Red Note Ensemble. Over the three days\, you’ll create your own original piece of music for flute\, trombone and guitar\, hear your ideas brought to life by professional performers and develop your work through practical workshops and feedback. \nThe course finishes with a performance of the new pieces on the final day. \n“The best thing about Go Compose was hearing my piece being played by professional musicians!” \n\nWho is it for?\nGo Compose! is open to young people aged 13–18 who have tried composing before and would like to learn more. \nYou don’t need to be an experienced composer. We’re looking for young people who are enthusiastic about creating original music\, curious about composition and keen to experiment with new sounds and ideas. \n\n\nTimetable \nMonday 12 October 2026: 2–8pm \nTuesday 13 October 2026: 10am–5pm \nWednesday 14 October 2026: 10am–6pm \nThe course will conclude with a performance of the new works at 5pm on Wednesday 14 October. \n\n\nCosts\nGo Compose! costs £70 for the whole course. Meals will be provided. You can attend the performance free of charge. You can also invite your family and friends to attend the final performance. Tickets for this cost £5. \nIf you will be travelling from a distance and would like the option to stay overnight\, we can offer supervised accommodation for participants at an additional cost of between £35 and £65 each per night. \nFinancial assistance is available if required. Please contact us directly. \nWe will let everyone know if they have been selected to participate by 8th October. DESCRIPTION:Factory Weekend is an opportunity for classical music performers\, aged 18-28\, to take part in a weekend of creative music making.\n\n\nYou might be studying at a Conservatoire or University\, or you are out in the world building your career and practice as a musician. If you want to explore and develop contemporary music skills for performers\, in a fun and supportive environment\, then this is for you! DESCRIPTION:The programme features Embryonic\, a powerful new work by acclaimed Canadian composer Bekah Simms\, commissioned by Nouvel Ensemble Moderne and Red Note Ensemble.
