DESCRIPTION:Festival 20/21 puts its unique focus on the superb music of the 20th and 21st centuries\, in all its richness and diversity and Red Note are delighted to be taking James Dillon’s RPS Award Winning Tanz/haus : triptych 2017 to Leuven in Belgium.  \nTransit has a soft spot for new talent\, likes to support young composers and eagerly seeks out interesting new developments. But all that young power should also be combined with a Genuine Figurehead once it’s time. Tanz/haus : triptych 2017 is a new\, concert-length work by master composer James Dillon\, which was an immediate hit at its premiere in Huddersfield. It’s a work whose creation Transit are proud to have co-commissioned.  \nCo-comissioned by hcmf//\, Red Note Ensemble\, Sound Scotland\, Transit Festival and November Music.

SUMMARY:Red Note with Garth Knox (viola d'amore)
DESCRIPTION:Scotland’s foremost new music ensemble\, Red Note\, are joined by acclaimed violist Garth Knox who returns to his childhood hometown of Aberdeen to premiere D’amore by Franco-Argentinian composer Oscar Strasnoy\, in the first half of this concert. The second half features the Scottish premiere of James Dillon’s Royal PhilharmonicSociety award-winning work\, Tanz/haus: triptych 2017\, “a work which immerses its audience in a music theatre of the mind.” \nGarth Knox and Oscar Strasnoy will be in conversation during an interval at 7.30pm \nD’amore by Oscar Strasnoy was co-commissioned by sound\, Red Note Ensemble and Donaueschinger Musiktage. \nTanz/haus: triptych 2017 by James Dillon was co-commissioned by sound\, Red Note Ensemble\, hcmf//\, Transit and November Music.

SUMMARY:Aeolian at Sound festival 2018
DESCRIPTION:“Aeolian” – relating to or arising from the action of the wind.  \nAeolian draws its inspiration and title from the “breath” of the accordion.  \nNorwegian composer Maja S.K. Ratkje\, UK installation artist Kathy Hinde\, and Danish accordionist Andreas Borregaard have collaborated to create this deeply-integrated new work that combines newly-designed air-powered instruments with live musicians to create a new part-performance\, part kinetic-sculptural work. \nCommissioned by Red Note Ensemble\, Aeolian won a Scottish Award for New Music earlier in the year following its premiere performance at hcmf//. \nAeolian is supported by Creative Scotland and Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. \n\nThere will be a soundconversation after the performance.
