Robert Irvine

Cellist Robert Irvine is the artistic co-director of Red Note. He has worked in a hugely wide variety of musical areas, including cellist in the Brindisi and Kyle string quartets, principal cello with Scottish opera and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, member of the Da Vinci Piano Trio and artistic director of the Chamber Group Of Scotland.

He has recorded many solo CDs including complete cello works of Giles Swayne, Sally Beamish, Dallapiccola, William Sweeney and sonatas by Schostakovitch and Rachmaninov. He is professor of cello and Chamber Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
