Blowing Their Own Horns

The collection of the Museum of Musical Instruments in Edinburgh University includes some curious instruments named after their self-aggrandising inventors.

This concert sees our musicians give these show-offs a chance to be played, echoing artist Mark Wallinger’s exploration of ego in The Fruitmarket Gallery’s current exhibition.

You will hear solo music for each new-fangled instrument followed by a commission from fearless composer Jim Sutherland, specially written to bring these big personalities together.

Event supported by Museums Galleries Scotland Partnership Fund.
